Field Trip to the Rescue Mission

On December 11, we took a trip to the Kokomo Rescue Mission. We had a tour of the facility and got to see first hand how much time and money it takes to keep the place running. We also decorated the cafeteria where we got to experience what it is like to eat there. We also donated four boxes of food to the shelter. We had a great time and learned so much. What a great learning experience!

Christmas program

Wow, we looked great and did a fabulous job singing! We hope you enjoyed the program, and we wish you a Merry Christmas!

Giving Tree!

Thank you for donating to our "Giving Tree". We will be donating 55 hats, 50 pairs of gloves, 30 scarves, and 8 pairs of socks to Kokomo Urban Outreach. It is amazing how much we can do when we all work together. I really appreciate all of your thoughtfulness. I know the person who receives these will be very grateful!

Homelessness

The students are learning about homelessness this week. We are discussing things such as who can become homeless, where the homeless go, how the homeless are fed, the difference of a want and a need, and things we can do to make a difference in a homeless person's life. We will be taking a field trip to the Kokomo Rescue Mission on Thursday to see how the facility operates. The students will be taking a tour, decorating the cafeteria and eating at the shelter. What a great experience!

Shopping!

The kids have been saving their money all year long. They receive money for getting an A+ on their citizenship grades, being good students, or being caught doing something nice. The students were given a choice to buy something for $1dollar,$5 dollars, or save their money for a $40 item. It was very interesting to see who saved their money. Not a lot!

We did research on different Indian tribes. We learned about the Cherokee, Mohawk, Seminole, Pueblo, Sioux and Apache Indians. We had so much fun researching and writing our reports. These are the posters we made and presented to the class. It was a lot of work, but we learned a lot.
