On Friday, May 8th the students participated in a Walk a thon here at school. All of the Howard students raised $4500 for the PTO. This money will be distributed between the teachers next year to use in their classroom for their students. Our class walked for a half an hour and then were treated to an ice cream bar and water. We had a great time!

Earth day!
Today in class we celebrated Earth Day by wearing green, reading about recycling and doing a fun activity. Each student brought in a regular household item that they would normally throw away and used their imagination to create something they could use. Some of the ideas were a picture frame, a clock made from an old CD, pencil holders, magazine holders, a robot, a sailboat and there were a lot more wonderful ideas. The kids had a lot of fun doing this activity and I enjoyed watching their creativity.

Young Authors'
I am so proud of all the second graders! Your books turned out so cute. Thank you for working so hard all week to get them completed. It was great seeing your excitement at the Young Authors' Convention as you showed your parents. I believe your parents loved the books. These books will be great keepsakes. One day you can show your children your wonderful book that you wrote and illustrated.

A Pie In The Face!
All I can say is WOW!!!! Our school did such an awesome job with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fund raiser. Our school raised $1201! Thank you for all of your generosity and support, our class came in first place with the amount of money raised. We bought seven pies to put on our student council member. Our school even raised enough money to put a pie in Mr. Willman's face and three pies in Captain Harold Vincent's face. What a great way to raise money for those less fortunate.
